Idea before touchscreen...

Before i came to this DIY touchscreen... one of my previous idea is called the shy machine...
What i decide to do is that i wanted to use method that Theo Jansen used on his work...if you guy don't know him...here is some picture...

this are some of his work that only run on the energy source, wind...

this is theo jansen... go take a look at some of his video at youtube...it is amazing...
but the reality is that he spent 17 years of research to build and i want myself to build something like that in 14 weeks??? oh well...that is not possible right...nevermind...

my second idea is i called it the 360 degree vision google...(watch too much naruto...but i am a fan of neji...) and so i went to research and found out that there is a lot of work out there similarity to this idea of mine...futhermore, the buget wise is too much for me...so in the end...i drop this idea too...

Material for building touchscreen...

- 1 glass panel
- 2 strips of IR LEDs (18 per strip)
- 2 sheet of tracing paper
- 1 projector
- 1 mirror
- 1 analog camera sensitive to IR light
- 1 computer
- 1 IR filter for camera

At first this is what i wanted to used for my major project...oh ya...now back to the previous work...my major...
However i found a better way and cheaper way of building on a website called http://peterbartsch.com/diy-touchscreen-interface... if anyone of you guys are interested on DIY touchscreen... go take a look...

Now what i need for material is
- 1 webcam (any one will do)
- 1 box (the body)
- 1 glass panel ( actually is anything that is transparent)
- tracing paper

and that it...

of cos you will need some program to work with it...for my case i will be using a program call Processing...

term 1 project...the clap amplifier...

This are all the process...

it is just planning and sewing...oh ya...u will see something like a small piece of poly felt being sew onto the glove... that is the fourth soft switch...

And here you go...this is the term 1 soft switch project...Clap Amplifier.....
clap...clap...clap...
oh ya... see the black round thing? that is the buzzer...if that buzzer is change to clap sound circuit...that would be the best...it just that the interface look more cybernetic...

Now is time for Fabric...

well beside my major class, we have other class also...wearable media...
in one semester we have two term....and each term we have one project...
that mean we have 2 project in one semester in wearable media...
term 1 is the soft switch project...

First we try to create different kind of soft switches...these are some of the switches i created...this is the very first switch that i have made...

there is a small hole being cut in the middle....which mean that is the area to apply force to turn on a switch...

this is the inside...aluminum sheet...

Another one...using the metal scrubs for cleaning the plate...

the close mode

the third switch...

using only conductive ring and conductive thread...

Research and research...

of cos there are some other artist such as Paul Rucker, Happy Ending Machines as well as some of the artist work such as Trash City, Orbiter and growth interactive Audio Visual installation.

oh ya this picture is I took in the arcarde cos at that time, i thought my work is going to be like the DJ style...

this is the close up...

of cos there is alot more picture...however i just show some of the important ones...

Two most favourite artist...

Since my work is about noise and sound...got to find some artist that is related to sound...
hmmm... i came across this media artist call Mogens Jascobsen and one of his work is called the Audio Bar which i like it very much...
Here are some people interacting with the work...Audiobar is a responsive environment for exploring a huge collection of audio art. You interact with the sounds using a tangible interface: By placing bottles on a table.
The bottle- and bar-metaphor was chosen to facilitate social interaction between the visitors at the Hørbar/Audiobar.

Some other research I have done which also inspired me is Gun Holmstrom and her work Omphalomin. It is a permanent, interactive sound sculpture that deal with sound also at the same time nature...

and this is how people interact with it...

How long have i stop this blog....

Oh well, actually in my school, we always use week to count our day...
the previous blog that i did is the week 3 of the semester... and now i am creating this post here is the week FIFTEEN of the semester...which is the last week of the school... lol... nevertheless i will start posting all the stuff from week 3 to now...
